3D printed guns in the US

MediaCorp Channel 8, 5 Aug, 2pm

A firm in the United States has uploaded the blueprint of a 3D printed gun and it has since been downloaded over a thousand times. Associate Professor Zhou Kun from NTU’s Singapore Centre for 3D Printing said in a live interview that 3D printed polymer guns have the same capability to fire bullets like a conventional gun, but it is inferior and has drawbacks such as poor strength, unable to withstand high temperatures and cannot be used for an extended period of time. It could also explode during firing. Any 3D printing of guns in Singapore is illegal and will be dealt with by the law, he added.
