2016 Singapore International 3D Printing Competition: Eyewear
Welcome to the era where technology gets trendier! With 3D Printing, we can now produce highly customized eyewear for the mainstream consumer. Instead of factory-produced run of the mill eyewear, spectacles can now be made uniquely to ensure the perfect fit.
Eyewear was believed to be created between 1268 and 1289 in Italy by an unknown inventor. In the 1700s, eyewear was made by hand. In the 1800s, larger scale manufacturing enabled the production of eyewear in different styles. Over the course of history, new designs and mass production of inexpensive eyewear resulted in the ease of availability to general mass. In recent years, fashionable eyewear gets popularized by celebrities, prompting the demand for distinctive eyewear designs.
In this competition, we challenge aspiring designers to 3D print disruptive, breakthrough, fashionable yet functional eyewear designs for you and me.

2016 Singapore International 3D Printing Competition: Shoes
Footwear originated from approximately 7000 or 8000 BCE, in the form of sandals. From the world's oldest leather shoe- made from a single piece of cowhide laced with leather cord, to the current glitzy and unconventional high heels, footwear has evolved to become a statement of fashion which can make or break an outfit. On top of snazzy designs, comfort and personalized form-fitting features have also become key factors of consideration for the health and wellness of the users.
3D printing provides new design freedom to create the perfect feel, fit and form that are tailored to each person's unique characters and needs. In this competition, we seek fashionable and functional shoe designs (UK Size 5-8) that showcase the capabilities of 3D printing. Comfort and form fit will also be important evaluating factors in this competition.
